I read an article from the BBC website titled "African viewpoint: Lucky mistakes" which talks about some of the interesting stories behind the names we bear, especially those of us with an African heritage. The full article can be seen at:

It was so funny that it got me to think about my name....or better still one of my names: "Fuependap" meaning "Chief for house" in pidgin English. This was a name I seldom used while growing up because i was constantly teased by my own sisters and some family members. I even considered dropping it at one point but thinking about it now, that would have been a very big mistake. I love the name because it makes me the person i am.
Do you have a story behind your name and would like to share it with us? Please feel free.
